Toxoplasmosis, Bomb Lessons, and EMS Student Life
July 15th, 2010 — jamieThis week on the ProMed Network, several shows caught my eye and I thought it would be a good idea to point them out to you. Check them out and add them to your podcast list.
First off, the excellent “This Week in Parasitism” show with Vince Racaniello and co-host Dickson talk about Toxoplasmosis. If you don’t know what this is or can’t name the common effects of this infection on a patient, you know why this show is one of my favorites each week.
Next up, Rick Russotti over at the Mitigation Journal discusses a variety of disaster and terrorism preparedness issues in the news recently including a chilling look at how easy it is to find bomb making information online and the dangers it poses to “curious” teens and children. Rick keeps me in the loop about being ready for the worst and he can do the same for you, too!
Finally, in this week’s round up, Jim Hoffman and Greg Friese from the EMS Office Hours podcast, talk about the life of an EMS paramedic student and interview paramedic student April (aka Epi_Junky on Twitter) about her final weeks in her program. Want to know if you have what it takes and get the tips to survive EMT or paramedic classes? Check out the EMS Office Hours podcast!
