Sue Thibeaux is a CRNA, flight nurse, paramedic, author and passionate educator. At NTI 2013 in the Physio-Control booth she was putting that passion to work teaching nurses about capnography for patient monitoring and cardiac arrest management. While capnography has been in use in the operating room and in the back of ambulances for years, it is still a relatively new technology for nurses in other areas of the hospital. Nurse Tina Suess is one of those nurses at NTI 2013 in Boston who said “We can do better for the safety of our patients!” Tina is a nurse from Lancaster General Hospital in Pennsylvania where they have instituted an innovative program for patient safety and medication infusion pumps. At LGH, the infusion pumps talk to the electronic health record to gather the correct infusion data for each patient so that there are no manual errors from the nurse inputting data on a keypad.
