EMS leaders need the best tools at a reasonable cost in order to provide treatment for their communities. Chris Cebollero, host of the EMS Leadership Podcast got the chance to chat with Amy Smith from ZOLL about the RescueNet software and the 12-Lead transmission tools that are now available for free to emergency medical services systems from the Ambulance to the Hospital. Built using open architecture, the RescueNet software includes free to use and access APIs that allow any monitor or defibrillator vendor to write code to access and transmit to the RescueNet system.

Product Innovator – B.E.A.R. from Beariatrics.com
At EMS Today 2011 in March, we picked from among the thousands of products in the exhibit hall a few standout product innovators. This was Chris Montera’s pick for the show and a good choice it was! With the increased scrutiny on proper transport and equipment for Bariatric patients, a simple and elegant solution to retaining a sizable abdomen in the midline on a top-heavy stretcher is important.
Keith Ishida and the Beariatrics Equalizing Abdominal Restraint (BEARiatrics.com) has solved that problem without significantly adding to the weight of an already hefty transport situation. View the video short segment from our finale episode recorded in March earlier this year.

In the final episode of the JEMSCast recorded live at EMS Today 2011, MedicCast host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic, joins co-host Jennifer Berry from JEMS.com to wrap up the final day of the conference. Leading off the topics recorded in the Aladtec/EMSManager.net supported Podcast Studio was a look at the JEMS Games held the night before. With teams of EMS providers competing to test out their skills and knowledge against their peers.
Also on the show was a discussion about the NAEMT organized EMS on the Hill day where EMTs and paramedics from around the country travel to Washington to learn about national emergency medical services initiatives and legislation while sharing their experiences with their representatives in Congress. You can share your thoughts about the NAEMT led initiative by leaving a comment here or by checking out the EMS on the Hill page at the NAEMT.org site.

One of the most passionately argued subjects in the EMS world is whether or not to continue to allow ALS providers like paramedics and medics in the field utilize advanced airways like ET tubes for patient airway management in critical situations.
Both sides cite studies that support their positions but none of the studies is designed around the unique EMS environment and patient care situations. What is the current consensus among the experts and medical directors? Are there any well designed studies on prehospital health care intubation?
This episode of the JEMSCast is recorded live at EMS Today 2011 in Baltimore from the Medtronic Foundation sponsored Podcast Studio. Co-hosts Jennifer Berry from JEMS Magazine and Chris Montera, from the EMS Garage podcast lead a discussion on what the panels at EMS Today are saying about this subject.

Over the next few weeks, here at the ProMed Network conference video podcast, we will be announcing our product innovator picks from the recent EMS Expo 2010 in Dallas last month.
You can watch all of these in order as part of our EMS Expo Finale Episode sponsored by EMS1.com. However, we have also separated them out for you to view as smaller snippets here at the ProMed Network blog.
First is the selection from the gang at GenMed Show with Natalie Quebodeaux and Jeremiah Bush joining EMS Garage host Chris Montera on stage to talk about the EMSled patient transportation device.
The EMSled (EMSled.com) is a lightweight, portable, modular system for getting patients and gear out of all sorts of situations. Designed and built by a paramedic who knows exactly what our tough design needs are, the EMSled is capable of bicycle, ATV, or provider powered transport.
