Dale Becker gave his system a renewed vigor in their approach to CPR and because of this, Dale has given people back their lives through the efforts of the EMTs and paramedics in the Howard County, Maryland EMS system. His EMS crews stay focused on what is important about resuscitation, high quality compressions with fewer and shorter interruptions and early defibrillation when appropriate. They avoid getting distracted by all of the other events and tasks that might be happening during a cardiac arrest. David Grovdahl, EMT-P, is executive director of Leflore County (Okla.) EMS. EMS 10 Awardee Jim Dunford joins MedicCast host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic to chat about his award winning program in San Diego, California. Dunford has directed the implementation of the San Diego Resource Access Program (RAP) and electronic Resource Access Program (eRAP), an EMS-based surveillance and case management system designed to help individuals who repeatedly accessed 9-1-1 find appropriate care.
Since its inception in 2008, RAP has evolved from a gumshoe case management approach into a health information technology (HIT)-enabled program supported by real-time EMS and computer-aided device surveillance.

Paramedic and educator David Page has long been considered a game changer but this time he’s been recognized for how he educates others and lifts up his community with his outreach. At EMS Today 2013, David was recognized for his inner city EMS education program called Freedom House which educates disadvantaged teens as EMTs, providing them with careers in EMS and many opportunities for their future.
